Placement is OK. I would recommended changing the link color from that default blue (0000FF) to black (000000).

You might nudge the sidebars down just a bit.

IMO you should use the same color link for your articles and for your Adsense Ads. I'm getting higher CTR with blue links, but if you want a newspaper look, probably it's better with black links.
However, I would do these changes:
    - Replace your image background (that letters mimics a newspaper, but your articles are more difficult to read, and won't be blended with Adsense Ads) with a solid background.
    - Change your Adsense background color to match your new solid background color.
    - I don't like your 2 banners on top, makes your blog unprofessional. If you can, put 1 top page banner right your sitename, and the other just below your last article (or better replace with your third Adsense Ad: 728 or 468 horizontal).

The adsense ads would work better if you made the background the same light grey as the rest of your layout. Also: incorporate a maroon into your content's text (some.. not all) and then change your ad link units to the same maroon for better blending.

placement is good but i think colours are not ok. if you use the same colours which are matching your theme , you can get better results

I have changed the background color of the ads to be matching the theme.

    Anything else I should change?

    thanks

I could see the sidebar ads on both sides. Are you sure?
