Feels Like I've Tried Everything, Trying To Get Above 2% CTR

I've been experimenting with placement, colors, blah blah blah and I need some suggestions as far as placement goes. I'm not very creative when it comes to that. I think my placement so far is OK to say the least, but I can't seem to reach 2% CTR or above. My last month's CTR was 1.3%.

I've tried ads in the sidebar and it didn't work as well as the ads in the articles themselves. The ad color scheme is blended to match my theme colors, but perhaps I should do the opposite?

I should also add that most of my traffic is organic and lead to individual articles, not the homepage itself. I hardly get any views on the homepage compared to the articles.

In my experience. Ad at 1.3% isn't that bad. The adverts are about as prominant as you can get.

under twitter on the right, also use adlinks, 3 blocks one aside the other, it will add you 1% CTR at least.
