I think it is still dominated by males. But the percentage of females in this field is fast growing.

    "make up and bags"

LMAO, that was good. I know you weren't trying to be funny, but it's funny to me because not once in my life have I surfed the net for make up and bags. Lingerie yes, but I blame Summer for that one.

I work on my sites and client sites all the time and I love doing it. :D

wow, it seems like the number of female members has grown considerably since I was around frequently.

even on my own forums (video gaming) there's a similar divide. there certainly are forums and communities where girls & women represent a larger chunk, but they seem like they tend to be so few and far between.

plus there's a tendancy to just assume people are male unless told otherwise (so, so many people on here thought I was a guy), so I guess it makes it feel like there are fewer women around than there actually might be

I didnt mean to offend anyone with the wording in my first post. It just seems to be dominately male, im not saying that like a bad thing or nothing.

Dont no where race came into it minstrel. I though this was a pretty reasonable question. I only wanted to find out how many other girls there are like me doing this.

don't feel bad about it. people are a bit crazy with being PC, I think. ^^

there's nothing inherently wrong with stereotyping. it pays to stereotype in this business- we all know you shouldn't have the same ads on a page if your site was primarily visited by women rather than primarily men.

    Then you should know this:

According to the latest research females are 90% more likely to vote on gender polls.

So im afraid it wont be accurate.

I don't think it's just a voting issue. women may be more motivated to view the topic in the first place. I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't one. it kind of piqued my interest.

Well apparently several male members have also been motivated to view it. I don't think it's a gender issue - it's a personality issue.

well, it's impossible to get perfectly balanced results in any sort of survey. college samples are used for studies but it's common knowledge that they don't represent the public as a whole.

if you offer a 5$ incentive for answering a survey you can bet your demographics will be different than if you offered a 20$ incentive or a 100$, or nothing at all.

different people are attracted to different things, and that skews the numbers :)
