File Hosting Sites - - - > I just Wonder ???

    I just wonder abt the file hosting sites like rapidshare and megaupload.
    Some of my friends are also planning to start one.But how is it possible ???
    I think they need dedicated server with unlimited bandwidth ....... ?
    But also how can they earn .......... ????
    In our country I don't think anyone buying premium account ............. !

    well file hosting sites earn by putting up ads on there site... also they can sell links because of the traffic they get....

    and as for premium accounts... you don't need to target only people from your country... any one from anywhere can buy premium account... ;)

    Well, I know the guy who owned putfile.com and it seems like he is added one new server every month to support his site. That seems necessary because of the bandwidth usage and resources it uses. From what I understand, he made just pretty much enough to cover cost some of the time and when there is a short fall, he will finance it using his other sources of income.

    You will have to prepare to finance the whole operation and assume no income so at least if anything happens, your business does not need to go down because you did not make enough to cover cost.

    There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth but there is unmetered bandwidth, basically it means that you can burst up to a particular bandwidth without incurring additional cost. That helps you curb on your cost element.

    If successful, it can be a very expensive venture but if you have the resources and the finances, it may be a nice business.

    They basically earn through selling adverts and upsell services. Some use that to promote their other businesses. Do not assume that you can make enough to cover cost through adsense or the likes as it is possible for people not to click on the banners.

    I don't click on ads or ads banners and I do not know of anyone who does that intentionally. You can however sell fix ad spots as that will give you a fix income.

    Also if you do get any letters from the authorities to take down certain files, be ready to cooperate with them.
