    Hi

I've just created my first website www.myviewspace.com. It's simple but i'm still well proud of myself.

I would appreciate any advice on my site, the forums and the adsense placement as reading these forums gets you a bit nervous with regards to Google's T&C's.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

    Congrats on the new site.

I'm at work right now, so I can't really look too much into your site, but you may want to consider trying the Web 2.0 logo generator for your logo (it's free).

It's at msig.info (or type in "web 2.0 generator" in Google)

Here's a MyViewSpace test logo I did for you (hopefully it's still up): msig.info/web2v2/myviewspace.png

(By the way, I'm not affiliated with the logo generator or anything. It's just one of the first things that came to mind when checking out your site).

    I hope this helps,
    Michael

Thanks very much for that reply, I was worried that the logo was too basic.

I have updated the logo to your suggested one, I'll have to resize it for the forums.

Thanks again, your royalties are in the post...

Anymore suggestion like that will be much appreciated.

    Nice work.
But how will you drive traffic to your site?

to be honest I'm really not sure yet. Like I say i'm new to this. I've been telling family and friends about it but it's taking longer than I was hoping. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards

here is the live link for you www.myviewspace.com . your placement looks good but you must add content for your site before the adsense

You're very welcome. Another quick suggestion for the main page:

When I first looked at your page, the "here" link in "Click here" caught my eye. Rather than saying "Click _here_" for the link to the forums, try making the link convey a message. For example, consider something like "_Visit the forums_ and see what others are saying".

...I'm still at work, so not a lot of time for posting :p

    I hope this helps,
    Michael

Again i've followed your advice and changed the link on the index page. Do you fancy designing my next site ha ha?

    Thanks again

Another question, the post regarding content before the adsense, is this needed as I was planning for it to be just a forum site, do you think google will penalise me for this?

Looks nice and plain. Good job. Usually, inexperinced designers fill their first sites with all sorts of junk and make it look ugly.

I remember my first site about 12 years ago. In had the index page full of animated gifs......LOL...It took about 7 minutes to load....LOL

    Col :)

Google's recommended "heat-map" for placement of ads is a triangle occupying the top-left corner of the page. You may want to try that. I'm not saying you need to slather the upper-left corner entirely with ads...just consider placing whatever ads you do have in that area.
