Well this thread certainly made my spot of neg rep a blot in the distance, so thanks folks.

Before you go crazy giving him good rep to give back his sig you may want to actually look through his posts that got him there. Not to mention:

1.) A person can't give 6 reps
2.) Just getting a red doesn't mean you loose your sig, you need a deep red which means something like 20 or 30 people giving you a bad rep

I have given PATS chances before and publicly stated that I would give him green if he stopped the crap he was trying to pull.

I have yet to see where he has deserved a signature.

Give him a green rep if you like but your time would be better spent encouraging those that make an effort and add to this community. I would rather give a newbie a rep for something good then waste one on this guy who has done nothing but taunt contributors.

I normally wouldn't post something like this and I am prepared for the red for doing so but PATS is NOT an example of someone victimized by the rep system.

 

I got one positive rep that gave me 10 points. I don't know if it works negatively though. I figured it was from one of you double-greeners or something. I know because I had been watching my rep just before and after I received it. I agree though. It seems like the easiest way to get rep is to complain about getting a negative rep point!

 

10 points is usually an Admin so thats a valuable one. That also works negatively.

You get a point for every 1000 posts and 1 for every year you have been a member. There are other hacks but that basically makes up your rep "weight"

I did get a blue rep comment that didn't take away from my rep. I assume it's a negative, since green is positive and there are only two options. I wonder if that's maybe from somebody with either red rep, or somebody who has given me negative rep in the past and they don't count anymore. Or maybe it's because there is no comment at all.

 

Blue is from either pos or neg but from someone below 10 themselves.

 

It is a newbie vote which could be either green OR red. It doesn't count though - nor will it ever.

To me if they leave a good comment they are the most valuable because helping newbies is what builds a community.

 

I have received a negative before by someone saying "don't belittle Shawn's efforts" for making a simple joke. Just as petty ...

He has been given chances...and will continue to get chances. All he has to do is start posting and the green will come.

The people giving him good rep because he asks for it are suckers and we have been down this road before. Mark my words as I have already predicted what will happen if he gets his sig back without a single decent post.

Last time he pulled this off he posted all kinds of garbage and taunted all of those that gave him another chance.

There's nothing like looking at your rep and seeing the word "Idiot" there. It's even funnier when it's a grey/blue rep that doesn't even count because the person giving it received too many reds himself.
