    Hello there guys ;)

Just wondering which one is more popular to set up a forum subdomain like
    forum.site.com or forums.site.com.

Besides, DP is using only forums.dp etc.., but I'm sure lots of people type forum.digitalpoint.com and get an error message ( I used to do that before).
So it can be a loss, why not register a subdomain forum.digitalpoint.com and redirect it to forums.digitalpoint.com ?

    thanks, Michael

Have one redirect to the other. Though I always just use a directory, /mb/ for message boards, unless the domain is 100% message boards, then just / (root directory).

Nope I'm planning a big forum, on a site with some decent traffic, so subdirectory isn't an option :D
But I might use it for a directory too ..

Let me guess, sub domains are used to hopefully allow more pages on the site to get indexed in search engines, since even a site with a million visitors can have the boards in a directory just as easily as as a sub domain.

    There's another reason..
If you have a forum at a subdomain, it may be easier to promote it, since most directories, don't like much subdirectories..
also I think it's cool to have another subdomain :)

Put it on forum or forums, and the one your not using redirect that to the one you are using.

By now I see that most of people've chosen the forum.site.com option.. anyone willing to explain why?

I voted for 'forums' cause that makes the boards look bigger than 'forum'.

I agree, it leaves the impressions of being a big and resourceful community. Also since the different sections are called forums themselves, it does make sense to use the plural :)
