    Is it better to place the ads on the top of the forum, right below the header, or on the side of the forum?

    Call me old fashioned but I have never liked phpBB. Anyway, If I were you I would choose less contrasting (complimentary) colours for the forum, for example right this forum. I have had difficulty of concentrating with that colours scheme. Given the current scheme, I would place them one between the thread and the right side of the visiting colleges thread (there is a good empty space there. url is "visiting-colleges-t4.html".

    I believe you should place them anywhere besides the footer.

    I think, for the forum, we can add some text link in the top , few of links. In the bottom , we can place in images ads.

    I think if you place ads below the header then you might get better CTR.

    Anyway, I think you should try placing ads in different places, see which one works the best.
