OK ... I said there was 4,000 lights and I still had the upper deck icicles to finish. That is comprised of 6 strands of 150 lights apiece. But one of those is already up ... and I had a 300-light garland up also to see how it looked - not as good - so it is coming down. So once I get all that up, it will be a "delta" of +450 lights ... but a few of those are always burnt out ... so for symettry purposes, lets call it 4,444 lights.

Having said that, I will NOW go back through all the entries and see who was closest ... and if I see any edits after the timestamp of this post (2036 MDT), they will be dis-qualified.

Who nailed it with 4,444 in post #71. I'll send 'em a PM (in case they miss this thread) asking for what URL and link text they would like and put it on the PR7 Hulk Page - per the "rules", it MUST be family friendly and no diet pills, herbal remedies, or anything like that.

Second place was roman1 who guessed 4,411 ... ironically post #70 right before girl's

Honorable mention goes to TOPS30 who guessed 4,134, but did it in a pretty humorous way.

No! you should add more lights right this moment to make it merrier and to make sure it goes close to my prediction.

I think there's a conspiracy behind this. How come your light goes to 4444 nicely? . It does not make sense.

Actually, it is ONE link from a PR7 page as advertised from the very first post ... and I've never had anyone say my site is a link farm and/or bad neighborhood.

Never thought about it, but I guess I could get an avalanche of Red Rep from everyone who participated except the winner - oh well, I thought it kind of a fun contest.

 

Sorry alex, that was intended as a joke since he said he was thinking of guessing 4444. So for intending to write 4444 as the answer, I guess that award is suitable.

But still, it's a joke.

Just to close out this contest, I got a PM back from girl with two proposed text links/URL's ... and I then added on the PR7 Hulk page a link to career resources that will stay up through Thanksgiving.

Thanx again everyone for participating - was fun - and I think I will do it for christmas - the light count will be a lot higher ... ;-)

Boy ... this is embarrassing ... I had just eyeballed the lights when I provided some previous guideance, and I wanted to wrap up the contest since it had dragged on, so I just delta-added the additional lights I put up at the end.

But I went out with the Amp-meter today (it's drawing 26.3 Amps) to measure everything and wrote it all down - the halloween webcam now shows this data per X10 circuit and the actual number of lights are 7,143 ... and this ended up being very close as elkiwi guessed 7,752 (which is a difference of 609, and I'll give you a "bonus" of -100 for the "digital enhancing" comment) and mopacfan guessed 6,657 ... for a difference of 486 ... so you "won" by 23 lights!

SOOOO ... I've just PM'd mopacfan and asked for his (family friendly and appropriate) URL and text link and I'll add that ALSO to the PR7 page along with girl's - figure that's the only fair way to resolve it.
