    I was thinking about adding a updated news section in my site but would like to find an efficient way to add in and remove posts...

    Is there a free "mini blog type" script on the internet that allows me to add in and remove posts? (in an admin section that's password protected). If yes, I'm assuming I need to be able to host PHP scripts, correct?

    You can try CuteNews, it doesn't require a database and has an admin section.

    Another extremely lightweight news/blog engine is blosxom, it works off the filesystem so it doesn't require an admin section.
