Game Theory and SEO

This is absolutely theoretical (and probably useless) conjecture, but I wonder if those more celebrated than I in math and game theory might make use of game theory when looking at SEO.

To wit: keyword selection - I am wrestling with options on my current site based on some presumptions of SERP chances and a very primitive tool, I am sure, supplied by SubmitIt. But then I began to wonder - of all the lawless lands, where strategies clash and roil up to form new strategies based on presumed human behavior - of all the areas where game theory might find some good grist, it seems SEO and SERP strategy would be one.

If someone could write an authoritative tome on game theory and the web, I would think they make themselves rich. Snake oil with some panache, perhaps, or something of real worth.

    Just musing.

I agree. I was reading an article on the net not too long ago about John Forbes Nash and Game Theory. Pretty interesting stuff. I haven't studied very much of it though.

What you say seems to make logical sense. Game Theory has a legitamate use in SEO, along with AI and a bunch of other stuff. If I had more money and a big corporation I would consider highering researchers to look at the potential uses of combining game theory of SEO technology.

What you seem to be talking about is Synergy, or the merging of different disciplines from different fields which will create entirely new concepts and constructs. Synergy will be an important factor in surviving economically in the 21st century.

    Pretty interesting stuff. :)
