    Can someone please explain the difference between these three methods of connecting to another computer from your own computer? If all I want to do is help out someone else who has a computer issue, which one works better? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

    Hi! I don’t know how it is with GoToMyPC and VNC, but pcAnywhere necessitates opening of inbound TCP ports for <a href="http://www.rhubcom.com/v4/user_manual/user-manual-preface.htm" title="remote desktop">remote desktop</a>, which can compromise security. I would recommend RHUB on-premise remote desktop which is a better alternative. Since it is an on-premise-deployable appliance, you get the finest security – your own firewall.

    gotomypc is a hosted service. VNC and RDC are software-based solutions.
    Most hosted solutions are priced per month or per year. Some of them don't require download.
    The software-only products require installation on a computer. The up-front cost is usually high with software. you need to buy several licenses and pay to upgrade it from time to time.
    In addition to the above two types of solution, there is a hardware-based solution - remote support/access appliance. Compared to the previous two solutions, there is no monthly fee, and the deployment is usually easy. but you have to pay a one-time purchase first.

    GoToMyPC and VNC are remote support tools which are used to establish remote desktop connection between computers. i.e. accessing computers remotely. Apart from these, one can even consider using various remote support tools such as logmeinrescue, gosupportnow, GoToMyPC etc. Or can even deploy on premise remote support appliance such as RHUB or Bomgar appliances.
