Has anyone ever used Godaddy.com for hosting?

    I'm having a huge problem.

Before signing up for godaddy.com hosting, I had a domain name from yahoo and it would forward to my site -- which is located in geocities.

Everyone told me that if I was serious about Adsense and getting better rankings, I would have to change hosts and find a great one.

So, after much looking and suggestions, I picked godaddy.com

The problem is... I dont know how to use it! I have looked at the help files as well.

I used the FTP server to upload all my html files and pictures... but I have no idea a) where to see my site... b)where to edit my site.

What is the domain name you are trying to use on GoDaddy? Does any page come up when you type in that domain name?

Have you changed the DNS to point to the new host? If so, it can take up to 48 hours to propagate.

Did you upload your files, including index.html to the public_html?

I don't know if godaddy has an online html editor, but most people who are not using a CMS use a third party program on their computer to edit html and then upload them to the server - i.e. Dreamweaver.

I would not recommend them - I'd try 1and1, hostrocket, or another, more reputable place that doesn't try to sell you 500 different "bargain priced" low-quality services.

Unfortunately I already paid to have godaddy..and a lot of people like them. Im not looking for anything fancy.

    MJewel-

Im going to be using listentoourband.net

Right now it is still currently forwarded to geocities.

I havent changed my domain forwarding yet.... because I wanted to see how everything worked first.

So I should just use Dreamweaver and then upload everything?

Dreamweaver is an Adobe product which you have to purchase- although you can download a trial version. I know there are other html editors that are free but haven't used any of them.

If you want to move a copy of the domain as it is now, you only need to ftp the files to the new server. To make changes, you will need some type of editor.

I have never used Godaddy, but if your site is just done in html, you should be able to just transfer the files and change the DNS. They should also have a tech support feature if you run into any problems.
