Good CMS websites ?

Joomla is by far the best for me - Easy to use, fast and easy to modify. The only problem is that its not so good on shared servers - gotta go VPS minimum when you go past the 1000 articles mark.

The site www.freiburg-home.com/germany has already busted the limits of Joomla on shared server and the site www.chancetolearn.com is about to. You have to really consider this when thinking of using such a database-pounding CMS. I really am thinking of hardcoding a lot of the pages on www.freiburg-home.com now as even on a VPS it's hitting the server hard. Such a shame when you put all that effort into a site, you watch it grow and start to bring in a few dollars from time to time, then without seemly a warning the hosting company take you offline until you go VPS. Act fast to avoid lowering the Page Rank etc. PR6 on the first site is something I do not want to lose.

 

Has anyone tried TYPO3? they claim its a good CMS for 'commercial' and 'corporate' website. Can anyone tell me more about this?

Another vote for Drupal. Easy to setup, easy to customize.

I forgot to say..he have all good things integrated on self..no need for module that is buggy...

Integrated:
- Sections (Every section can have SELF template sistems, Sport, News, Funns..every can have self template siste..menu....)
- eshop (pro version)
- Forum (good integrated forum...no need for looking solution to integrate some free forums)
- Article sistem (top atrticle, comment article, Link with Manufacturers..more....)
- News sistem (top news, coment news, link with gallery..)
- Picture Gallery (automatic create galery from folder)
- And...much more...

but not free..but very low price ..beacuse if you ask someone to do for you some module..you will pay like all that sistem

Wordpress first and then joomla

 

He meant to get a custom mod done for some other cms you end up paying more then what that cms and ots featires costs.

 

I think some custom CMS also work good. Most hosting companies provide them. This site is using a custom CMS.. http://www.dublinevents.com/

Everyone seems to like Joomla/Mambo but they don't seem to give any reasons. Might be because it has some nice icons in the admin interface, I don't know but I've installed, implemented, and designed for all the major CMSs available. And there are several things to consider when choosing a CMS including features and ease of use.

But it is just as important to consider the stability of the project, how easy will it be to grow with the software? What is the upgrade path offered as you build your site?

There are many OS CMS choices and someone did mention opensourceCMS.com as a resource to review a variety of projects in one place. I would encourage you to narrow your search to the top three to five then install them locally on your computer so you can see them up close and personal.

There are a few systems that shine above the rest but it depends on your needs. If you are going for a simple content site then consider Joomla or WebSiteBaker. If you need a robust, flexible tool out of the box then look into PostNuke and Drupal.

Finally, check to see if there is a support network for the application in addition to professional support.

The template is very customizable. Creating new modules is VERY easy.

The only drawback for Joomla is that you will need to spend some time learning and exploring it before you can make the best use of it.

 

I often use Wordpress and must say that i had no problem to use it as cms.you can customize templates so noone see that is actually blog.

 

Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal seem the Big 3.

Joomla can get a bit too bloated for my liking so if Wordpress will work - I'll use that for a website.

I use Wordpress as a CMS/News website and got to say I've got no problems with it.

I've got a theme which makes it look like a news website.

I'd recommend Wordpress, any day.

 

If you are looking for paid one, then go for Expression Engine.
If open source, Than Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal. These are the best choices for anyone, who is willing to make a CMS based website.

 

Joomla is a great combination of being powerful, easy to use and free!
