Google Analytic doesn't count traffic from Social Network?

Hello everyone,

My new music streaming site is only 3 weeks old. My AWStat is showing that my site is getting around 300-400 visitors a day, while Google Analytic is showing only 30-60 visitors a day.

Most of my visitors come from Twitter, Reddit, StumbleUpon and Digg.

 

Google Analytics will show traffic from social networking sites too, there might be problem with AWstat.

 

Awstats counts bots that hit your server without calling up a page.
GA doesn't.

 

I'm using statpress... anybody ever compared it? I want to know if the result also different or exact...

 

Magda is on spot! Awstat shows you the exact amount of visitors, but most of them are not humans, so there is no point in counting them for GA!

 

AWstats won't show the correct figure and GA will show the correct one.

 

Maybe your analytics code was not properly put on every page of the site. That's why some traffic are not recorder. Try to check each page if analytics is properly installed.

you are right.... google analytic does count activity from most bots, hence it is showing less number of hits....

 

Does GA counts traffic from other search engine? It seems I'm being index by a few search engines and they seems to come very often which is the reason why my AWStat is showing very high amount of visitors I guess.

 

I wonder how google gets to filter spam bots... but yes, it counts social netoworking sites..

 

OFcource Google counts traffic from Social networking sites . These traffic will be counted as referral traffic . But yeah I too some see things like AW shows higher numbers than Analytics .

 

You could simply look at the traffic referrers and see if there is any traffic from these sites. Compare the referrers on Awstats and Analytics.

As others said, Awstats is counting some robot traffic. In the other hand, Analytics has some limitations because it is dependent on JavaScript. It also may not count some visits or pageviews if the user leaves the site or the page before it is fully loaded. None of them is 100% accurate.

 

Google analytic is good may there is prob in Awstats.

 

Google analytic does not show all the links if you want to track down the links of your social networking you can find at yahoo site explorer.

 

I am seeing all the traffic from social networking sites like Twitter, Digg, Reddit & Stumbleupon. I don't know why it is not showing on your google analytics?

Maybe you should ask this on their forums?

 

Google analytics will show the num of visitors came from social networking sites. i think you were wrong.

Also be careful because AWStats shows both "hits" and "unique visitors" the hits are how many pages have been viewed on your site while unique visitors are the amount of actual visits/how many people/computers. Google Analytics JUST counts Unique visitors.
