Today's entry in the blog at managersim.com tells how to avoid being tracked by Google Analytics, at least for users of Firefox.

I hope everyone doesn't adopt this strategy.

I doubt many people will care. They are being tracked by 20 other analytics programs and most people never even notice.

Hmm.. that is an interesting point, it will give google the abilty to track users across sites even more so then they already can. Sort of like doubleclick used to get scorned for.

Yeah the reality is most people don't care.. and the reality is there is also no free lunch. I imagine the number of people who get out of it will be relatively small.

I personally think webmasters have every right to track a visitors movements and actions while using their site... So I don't have a lot of sympathy for anyone who feels they have the right to be anonymous and hidden on my webpage. If it become enough of an issue, something would give at some point.

managersim.com is running adsense, so the webmaster of that site is giving google basicly just as much info about his visitors as if he had the analytics code on his site.
