Google Analytics (Lots of Direct Hits)

    GA has been behaving strangely for me. I have almost 30% of my traffic coming as direct hits. This is a good thing but my question is, when I check whether those direct visitors are new or return, it tells me that 90% of those 30% are new. This is strange, because without those visitors visiting site at least once, how do they figure out my URL. And it is not just 1 day that I am looking at, this is an average over past month, so something is strange that GA is teling me.

    Is GA not telling me hits from SEs or RSS readers? Could you guys share some ideas here as to what is happening?
