Has anyone here ever had good luck with placing a google search area on their website? I have never made a cent from it and thinking of taking it off.

Been there - done that - I didn't but who knows, maybe you will. Leave it up for a bit see how it goes - if not take it off.

well ive had google search on my site now for 2 weeks and the results are
a click through rate of about 45%!!!!
So I am happy with this.
and the earnings quite reasonable per click on average too,
Possibly because i have a search bar on every page and that i am a directory website but yes i will be keeping google search on my site.

The Search results will tend to move away your readers to other pages. This is what I have gathered. If you want people to stick around your site, you may rethink having the Search.

I had the search on one of my sites for a few years. Maybe made $100.00 over the entire length of time. I recently took it off for two reasons:

    1) Re-designed my site and it didn't "fit in"
    2) My visitors were leaving my site too early (so I thought)

No luck with the search over here.

It probably depends on the site's niche.

I agree - the site niche has a lot to do with it. Congrats to those for whom it has worked!

google search is not good. You will get very less for the clicks too.

    Drop it!

I guess it really does depend on what niche you are in,

I have an online shopping directory site so i really dont care how soon the user leaves as long as i get paid for the click.

If you had a product on your site that you were selling then i guess i would think twice.

Oh no, the search box is seriously dead. To give you an idea, last month received 7868 click on content pages and 4 in search box pages.

Total waste of time for me.
