Got some new books, which to read first?

I used my amazon affilate money this quarter to get some new books to read. Some of which where reccomended here in another thread.

Here they are

1. Rich Dad Poor Dad Retire Young Retire Rich (Already read Rich Dad Poor Dad)
2. If How-tos were enough we would all be skinny, rich, and happy
3. Think and Grow Rich
4. How to Win Friends & Influence People

I won't have time to start seriously reading until after wrestling season (mid Feb) but I would like to hear what I should read first, second etc...

Also are there any up-to-date internet business books out there that would be worth the read while not on DP.

 

After reading those books and other "self help" books don't you notice they all tend to be saying the same thing but in different ways?

I would definitely start off with the classics:

3. Think and Grow Rich
4. How to Win Friends & Influence People

Haven't heard of 2. though - who is it by?

Its by Brain Klemmer. Someone here personaly reccomended it and it has a perfect 5 star rating at amazon. Though I might as well pick it up.

 

Such books is just waste of time. There are zillions ways of getting rich. Find one book in a more specific area(SEO, poker, poolplaying etc) and then you may succeed.

 

How to Win Friends and Influence People is a classic. Start with that.

 

They all sound pretty damn boring to me

If you insist on reading one of them, I suppose any book by a guy named "Brain" is probably worth at least looking at...

 

So "Klemmer" doesnt turn you off there? I can imagine people calling him Klemmer or "the Klem" or "Klemarooni". The thought of that would make never read that book. I'd hate to say I read this book - and a buddy of mine tell that "the Klemarooni" wrote that while he was drunk one night.

 

I think that's true about him being drunk. I always call him Klemmaroonie - Brain always sounds so stilted to me...

I've never really been much into books that tell you the key to success.

The people that normally need other people's quotes to be inspired normally end up looking for another quote in a week or two after that one wore off.

That's not a slam on you mizt, because if you get one thing from any of the books then I see that as something positive.

I do agree with Minstrel that they seem pretty boring. Maybe if it was something like How to Win Friends and kill people with your Ninja Skills then I might read it, because it's so hard to make friends when you're killing people.

 

Shawn got where he is today by reading the book How To Win Friends And Stab People.

 

I think just learning a few motivational/business skills will help me in the long run.
For some reason when I read rich dad poor dad I couldn't but the damn thing down. Hopefully I'm that motivated with these books.

 

I agree, It's the way he writes it. The formula he follows is to keep the language simple and easy to follow. He also uses great examples that keeps any reader interested as they're examples from his own experience.

Depends on what kind of people you are looking for.. Osama may invite you to a torabora party.

 

It's those damn double sided sticky pages.

 

That and trying to decide "Am I the Rich dad? or the Poor dad? Rich dad? Poor dad? Rich dad? Poor dad? Rich dad? Poor dad?" while flipping back and forth between Page 1 and Page 2.

I do not LIKE green eggs and ham...

 

"Think and Grow Rich" is a must read. It changed my attitude about money and the way I think about life in general. Read it and think about what you read.

 

if you're young, you might find these book captivating, why not? As somebody have already said, they tend to follow the same pattern, so just take a random one in your hand and read it.
