Greatest Guitarist Ever Poll

I was just listening to some Aerosmith live and Joe Perry was at his best, some of his live stuff is as good as I have ever heard from anyone.

He has developed into a virtuoso in the last 30 years, I can remember cruising in old beat up Ford Mustang in High School listening to "Get your Wings" back in 1974 listening to Joe Perry and Steven Tyler belt out great stuff back then and they are still at it.

Aerosmith was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame so I don't want you hear you youngsters bad mouthing the old musicians I like.

Remember most of my bands are in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame and yours are not.

So all the favoritism aside, I just want to put up a poll to see who you all like best.

 

I'd say kirk hammett.

Well this applies to me best, "Don't know, I grew up in the 80's" but from what I do know, I'd have to say Jimi Hendrix, I was listening to some of his stuff the other day, he was amazing.

 

Hendrix was so hot that they say even white girls openly lusted after him (in those days race mixing was a no no-1970), he was a natural and you really would have to see live video to see what they were talking about.

Hey even the guys loved him and wanted to be like him, just ask the Beatles and the Stones, they were all wondering how he did it.

Jimmi probably was the best. Growing up I listened to more Metallica though.

 

Jimi Hendrix - no one has ever come close to touching him.

There was a blues guitarist named Luther Allison that was as good as Hendrix, do a search on his name and you will find that many folks thought Hendrix stole his style.

But they were both fantastic, Allison was one of the all time greats, you would be lucky to even find his live stuff today.

Too many to choose from. I would go with kieth richards, but hendrix is a close second.

I had to go with Hendrix. To me being the best is about more than just technical ability.

Of course maybe that would warrant a vote for Tom Petty. Anyone that can fashion a career while only knowing three chords is pretty impresive
