    Dear all,

I've develop the Facebook like chat bar. It stores the conversation into a flat file, it is very similar to the Facebook Chat bar in the web technology wise.

Somehow, I found it is way too hard to get my site promoted and getting new members as they are already used to Facebook and Twitter.

I hope to get some advice and feedback here for the startup of a social networking site.

i think you did a great job there.

make a list of marketing techniques and work with them daily basis. it takes time for any new venture take off.

    some possible marketing options:
    - social bookmarking
    - blog commenting
    - marketing on other social sites
    - ppc
    etc

This is a lovely website – well done! I've signed up for it. I really like the emphasis on geographic location as the central parameter for linking people. This can be a wonderful tool for business connections. Only the site needs a few minor corrections. When signing up for an account the system is configured to only accept one location with one fixed spelling. I suggest you find a way to integrate a world map and use a google application for allowing a variety of spellings.

Find a way to convince women to join the site, and then ask them to invite their friends :)

It's not a bad set up, but do you realize how difficult it is to compete with Facebook? It's not difficult, it's impossible. The best idea is to find a specialist niche and to build an online community around that particular specific interest.

Your site looks very nice and professional. The hardest part always is to get traffic that stick with you. Good Luck!

The website is great and looks clean and clear appearance. However traffic generation is big issue for new comers. Wish you best of luck with the website!

The site looks very nice. My question is your intentions for creating this? Overcoming Facebook seems a nearly impossible task, one that far too many people are taking on. Succeeding in something like this would take extremely deep pockets and nearly unprecedented luck.

Location based connections seems like a cool piece of functionality, but why not just create a Facebook plugin? If this idea is a success you will have no patent on the idea and FB engineers could rip it in a heartbeat. I don't mean to bash your website, I'm simply wondering your objective.

Social networking sites are in today. But the leaders are Facebook and Twitter. You must make a way for your site to stand out. What make this site different to others and why should I sign up for it if it does almost everything that Facebook does? A good but expensive way to start things up is to turn this into a paid to socialize site.
