I like Magento. For a free cart, it offers a lot of options right out of the box.

    Hi Nima,

yep... Our development team has launched couple of ecommerce site using magento cart.

As being SEO savvy, I also recommend magento because It's only an open source technology which is also great as point of view SEO. It gives you Auto generated Google Sitemap, Meta for your products and category pages and much more…

Magento is a pain in the ass... Very well coded but to complicated for a non-expert user the reason accordding to some people is the price that you need to pay to receive technical support. I recommend vituemart simply, clean and useful. Just my opinion...

Magento is extremely slow, has a very steep learning curve. That said, it has some awesome features (like multiple stores, multiple designs, etc). If Magento meets your needs, make sure you've budgeted plenty of time to learn how to customize it and use a Magento-optimized web host. Even if your server is ultra fast but isn't optimized (caching, etc), your install will be slow with even 1 product in your database.

I tried PrestaShop and love it. It meets my needs a lot better. It's fast out of the box and was very simple to learn. It's got a clean interface and seems to be picking up steam.

Have you tried version 1.3. It's out now and after updating it our team has found our magento cart runs a lot faster now.

I'm loving magento because of its SEO friendly features.

Magento has tons of power and flexibility. That being said, it is not the easiest to learn how to customize. You can even use it for multiple sites including multiple domains running different sites on one admin panel. *Plug* If you check out some of the better Magento developers, check on NeoNexus Corp. They have been good to me and others I know.

For default installation then Magento is perfect. The install is fairly easy, but if you’re not comfortable with creating SQL databases and changing file permissions, get someone to install it for you. This has the freedom and flexibility - not to mention the $0 price tag - of an open source solution, but it also has the polish and sophistication of a commercial solution.
