Any thoughts on this? Is it worth getting? Any major difference in CS2 or CS1?

I got it. It's not that much differense from CS2 I think, not what I've noticed at least.

The main differense are the menu's (layers pallete and things). And I just notice it got imageready "built in".

If you already got CS2, I wouldn't say it's really "worth" getting, since there's not that much new. But of course it depends on if you mean buying it.. :p

yes, the beta that was.. I'd say stick to CS2, if your not into flashy new stuff.. coz only thing good about it IMHO is its integration with the then macromedia studio, and now adobe dreamweaver et al. Do you use DW and FW?

I use it.I suggest that u must get CS3.It has a new feature called Smart filters which allow u to apply filters without destruting the layer contents.U can also rearrange the filters order or een disable to see hoe it affects the image. Also i like the new vanishing point feature which allows u to create planes at an ange to each other.
Another feature is timeline based animation

They have some new useful features but they also require a good PC.

i prefer CS3 over CS2 any day. it was definitely worth the purchase in my opinion. smart filters are a god send especially when it comes to picky clients. you don't have to start over! either tweak or remove the filter that was applied. even after closing it. the interface has changed a lot from CS2 and i love it. i love that fact that when you tab off the palettes you can move your cursor to the screen edge and they re-appear. and the one row tool palette is a plus as well. less screen real estate especially when working with larger files. overall, i would recommend the upgrade.

my all time favorite run down of new features: http://www.photoshopuser.com/cs3/sk_features.html

it's big for me being a photographer, huge RAW improvements, quick select, B&W conversion.

but if none of those are important to you then I'd stick with your current version.

nothing "requires" a good PC, especially when you've got a good Mac. :D

I use CS2 apps, and use a lot of their features in each app (PS, Illus., InDesign)... probably some great features in CS3, but I don't see the need to upgrade at this time.

(although if I had the $$ to burn, I'd do it in a heartbeat!)

I think there is no use of getting a newer version of adobe photoshop which has a very few updates than the older version.I use CS2 and it is more than enough for me
