    I'm thinking about buying a site that appears to have been banned by google at some point (de-indexed) but it's cleaned up and I don't see any violations on it at the moment (and would fix anything violating tos if I buy it) but I want to know how likely it is to be re-included in google through the reinclusion request feature on the sitemaps page.

    It says it takes a couple of weeks which is fine but does it work?

    You could always ask Google about it. Go here: http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py and select " I'm a webmaster inquiring about my website" and then "Adding my site to Google" or "Why my site disappeared from the search results or dropped in ranking" and fill in the next form.

    You may get a response from them.

    Thanks, I actually did it and before I got an answer in this thread, it was indexed again - no backlinks or anything but it exists in the google world again. Now the work starts.
