Something I've been pondering on for a couple of days, obviously my site is still VERY young. A month old, but I wanted to hear some of your feedback about this topic.

Over the years, its been stated serveral times that vistors have grown smarter and smarter concerning adsense or any ads for that matter and click-thru rates have dropped, so to fight against this many people have now been using the rectangle shapes instead to have their CTR increase.

Getting to my main point, many people state that the Large Rectangle usually has the best CTR of any of them, however it is my thought that this should ONLY be used if your targeted audience has monitor resolution of 1280x1024 or higher.

I say this because if you'll take a look at what large ads look like on a 1048x768 res or even a 800x600 its really overwelming to say the least so do you think it would be beneficial at all to use medium for 1048x768 and just the regular 200x200 square for high 800x600 traffic to raise CTR?

Just tell me if you think this holds any merit?

    Chad

I think that most have the 1280x1024 resolution. You have to target the majority and not those few that have 800x600.

You know what I think? Its all about your content and target audience, that said, any res is fine, and adsense layout is fine. IMHO

So it would (should) be all about ad placement.

I made $16.50 on 465 page views in 6 days, and I havent even gone live yet. It was just a link in my signature at a forum which got me views and clicks. See how many views I got, and yet see how high the return I got?

Its really the keywords and content which makes a big difference per click ;)..If you want to know the secret program I used, click the banner at the top of this site scamwatch.only-the-truth.com, youll see what its called.

Its a rotating banner, so you have to wait about 10 seconds for aglocos impression to exit before you see the banner Im talking about ;). There are two banners in rotation, agloco and the one you want. ;)

Yeah, I've heard thats supposed to be pretty good, its a little expensive, but a few of their videos that I watched a while back looked promising. I tihnk I might try them out for a day or maybe a week to see if I get any better results.

Yeah, I seen it ages ago too, and put it on my "todo list when I needed it, finally one year later I got it for a day, got the keywords I needed, and bam, that was it :D. That program is damn powerful. It actually should be illegal some of the stuff it can do. but thats competition for ya :D.

I particularly like how it gives you highest paying keywords, but with lowest competition.

I figured a way around that comp though.

Simply make a forum based on the keyword and not a "google made page" with an article or two on it.

The content should be targeted to a subject that not one place holds all the answers, leaving room for your ads to get clicked on, celeb pictures etc are also good subjects, but less pay rate for each click, but the click amount verses page views for celeb could definitely outweight the amount per click. (some peope can't get enough of clicking celeb links.)

Thats my trick and yes, Im happy to give it away, I hope you can do something with it. ;)

Have you got a link to your website so I can have a look at it?

Yes, actually its the one in my sig, Its only a month old so I'm still adding content as I go, and I'm going to put up payment proof from all those sites I've been paid from. Pictures from the checks themselves and paypal.

Any help with my adsense placement would be great. Also do note, that I've only been doing CSS for a little over a month now. Thats the first site I've ever done with CSS and I"ve had Dan Shultz give me some pointers and coding help as well as another guy off of sitepoint.com

Okay, Ill work with the layout as you have it.

    1. Move your header image into the middle.
    2. Move your nav bar to the top.
    3. Make your page 100% wide, not fixed.
    4. Put a 160x90 5 link, link unit under your main links (change colour to match)
    5. Put a 160x600 skyscraper under the link unit. (change colour to match)
    6. Put your "Recent Updates" links on top of your rightside banner.
    7. Remove any page encryption.

Hows that 336x280 Large Rectangle doing? If its not doing so well, Id go with the 300x250 medium.

    That's my frontpage suggestions.
