Have you seen my monkey?

That story reminds me of a friend of my dad, Frank, that bought a monkey. Frank is a truck driver and he was in California at a truck stop and these guys told him they would sell him a monkey. They said that he it would keep him company on long trips and when he stopped at truck stops he could take in it with him, get it to do some tricks, and that people would give him a free meal.

He ended up buying the monkey for $400 and he put it in the sleeper section of his truck and closed the compartment between the sleeper and cab. Several hours later he pulled into a truck stop and decided it was time to put his monkey to use.

Frank opened up the door to the sleeper section and stuck his head in and immediately the monkey leaped out at him and grabbed on to his head. The monkey started biting his ear and he couldn’t pull it off his head. He jumped out of the truck with the monkey latched on to his head. He was screaming for help. Several truck drivers just watched and laughed for a little bit until they realized he really needed help. They pulled the monkey off and threw it back into the back of the sleeper and shut the door.

Frank took the monkey to an exotic vet when he got back home and the vet told him that it was a full grown wild monkey and there was no way he was going to be able to train it. He ended up donating it to the zoo.

I knew Frank fairly well so I know it wasn’t just a story to discourage me from wanting a monkey.
