Healthcare.gov grrrrr

Ok, so the other day we had the deadline for the health insurance marketplace, and I wanted to help my elderly father sign up since he was totally confused by it. What a nightmare that turned out to be.

First we registered on the site and confirmed the registration, but we could not log in because it said the password was invalid. What are the odds I mistyped it twice? So, after a couple of tries I clicked the lost password link.

An email comes with a link to reset the password. I click it, only to be met with a message saying "We are unable to assist you at this time". Really? My password reset requires manual input from them? So then I try to log in again, and it says the account is locked, please call.

So then I call, and the message says that due to a high call volume they are unable to assist me at this time, and prompts me to leave my phone number, which I did.

The next day I got a recorded message informing me that I am waiting for a call, and that when it is my turn, they will call me. Brilliant! Then yesterday I got another recorded message saying that due to a high call volume they were unable to reach me, and asked me to call the same number. I called again, and this time instead of asking me for my number, it just says they can not accept my call at this time, please try back later.

Your tax dollars at work, America!

 

I was sitting doing my work at our local library the other day, and I happened to sit not too far from a lady who was trying to sign up for health insurance and that's exactly what happened to her. Coincidence? I think it's more than just a coincidence.
