hearing loss due to iPod

MP3 players with claims that the gadgets, which typically are used with dime-sized, disc-shaped earphones called ear buds, can cause hearing loss.

one hour a day at about 60 percent volume was safe... sometimes it's really hard to resist, there are music that needs to pump it up...
sucks.. then why are manufacturers allowed to give listeners the option to pump it up to 120 decibels?

    that's just lame..

    Huh???????????????????????... Can't hear you....

I spent nearly 30-years in front of Two 100-watt Marshall Bass Stacks nearly 5 days a week and I can still hear rather well...

    :D

just b/c you can listen to something at a certain level, doesn't mean you have to.

I guess they have to cater for the already deaf people who benefit for the loudest possible sound. If they didnt then they would be accused of something else :)

Anyway... this isnt just iPods that have done this. Every walkman, discman, mini disk player and now MP3 player have all been able to turn up to a LOAD volume. I got my first walkman back in the 80's and then my first portable cd player I guess in 89 or 90. I believe all of these (apart from the very first Sanyo beast) had in the ear headphones.

I think people just complain too much these days :D

I'm sure it happens but I agree, some music just has to be turned up. I had a hearing test for work a couple weeks ago so I'm good to go for another year.

Should hammer manufacturers seaize trading since their products could be used in a way that could cause damage to people?

End users have their own responsibilities in regards to their health and safety. Just because so many are out of touch with the real world doesn't mean the manufacturers are to blame IMO.
