I am a budding entrepreneur who is a bit new to this e-commerce aspect of business.I am thinking of having a designer to build my site but i know it would be expensive and i am on a little or no budget right now so i want to know what is the best solution for one of those sites that you build and pay for monthly. However i think i will run into a few roadblocks so my questions are:

1.How do i go about getting a merchant acount if i am not in the US or have a US checking account--What is the level of difficulty and cost factor.

2.Explain to me how verisign works and how they would work for me.

    3. Would i have to host my site in the US, I am in the caribbean.

I have links to a few good suppliersin the US and UK who will dropship for me, but i am seeking others. I plan to have various products on my site.

I really hope I didnt bombard you guys with too many questions. I am just in an eager state right now.

You can get a merchant account almost anywhere. Worldpay might support your country. Check them out. Check out your local bank as well.

Verisign - are you talking about Payflow services or the SSL?

You can pretty much host your website anywhere you would like.

    Thnx for your reply.

I am going to use dropshippers so i cant go with people like charge.com because they pay you every two weeks. I must be able to pay the dropshipper to delivery the goods.
Getting a merchant account at my bank is easy but which company that does processing will send the money to my bank in the caribbean. I have yet to find that. My bank could do the processing but they are way over the top expensive.

    Does worldpay work like charge.com?

Actually charge.com would pay you every 5 days, or rather hold your money for 5 days if you were not in the United States. They are a CSI reseller (as am I) so I do know the correct rules. Charge.com - since they are CSIs largest reseller, sometimes makes errors in information.

Worldpay is a bit different and they would be the ones to ask that since they review each merchant on a case by case basis.

Having no us bank account or address what can your company do for me.
Think about the turn around time--five days to get pay then pay the dropshipper, that wouldnt work. customers would be furious.

Get a 30 day credit account with your drop shippers.

If you are interested, you can call my business partner techlady or complete a contact form. He is the one that handles all the paperwork and gets the merchant to the better company based on the needs.

I applaud you for doing some due diligence. So many times, no one ever does anymore.

Most dropshippers are reluctant to do 30-day with international. Believe me i believe in honesty but from experience the internet makes any honest man guilty before proven innocent.

@corey i will send the inquiry.

    Hi
I don't know the exact rules as far as carribien is concerned but depending on your goods and value start with paypal if you can get it.

Get a software and pages up and running. Host it in the US or Canada from 4-5$/month onward.

Ger a copy of cubecart.com set it up play get comfortable than you can buy the license and fully customize it or get another package. they are all nearly the same.

If you have a credit-card see to get high c-limit and tell the drop sipper c-card or 30 days. Some will start with c-card and move to 30 days later.

That gives you the time to clear funds.

It also pays to be open and discuss a credit line - e.g 300$ and once established negotiate up.

But be a bit carefull with drop shippers. Get references, make sure you get a shipping confirmation etc.

Takes a while to get into the "net" anyway.......

    Best of luck
