Help Needed with Ad placement

Hello,
I am currently running a popular forum at www.soccer-art.co.uk/forums

Now, there are around 19,000-22,000 ad impressions daily, however the CTR is only around 0.10-0.12 %.

Now, I would also have to remove the ads at the top of the forum index as it will be violating the new rule that has been added to the TOS which doesn't allow images to be lined up with ads.

I have also placed a 160x600 skyscraper along the left of all the forum pages.

If you can help me suggest better ad placement/formats so that I am able to increase the CTR I will be very grateful, and I will also post back in this thread to report my results after a month or so.

Well first of all, as it's been said many times before, forums users are almost always ad-blind. Then, the ads shown in your current skyscraper don't always fit your forums theme - for example I see 2 domain registration ads out of the 5 shown.

Therefore, my suggestion is to rely less on AdSense and apply to a few good affiliate programs: if you started selling soccer and sport apparel I think you might have a lot more success.

Thanks for your feedback picouli! I was wondering whether I should enable image-only ads since I seem to have a lot of impressions and not too many clicks ?

Also, are there any good advertisers which would pay me only on the basis of impressions and not on clicks ? I know about Valueclick etc but I think you need to have a lot more impressions to be accepted, right ?

 

With the impressions you have daily I think you should be quite successful with any affiliate program. Have a look at them in the appropriate forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22

I will remove the Soccer-Art - Advertisement section.

And put in the 468x60 in place of the CirtexHosting spacing. The CirtexHosting ads can will be just above the status bar at Powered by vBulletin Version 3.6.2.

Also the left side bar seems a bit too low down the page. Do try to fix it higher up the page.
