Help New to this and Curious

I found this site by accident and WOAH I have never heard of this stuff before? I have a couple websites and forums, mostly for my college clubs and my roommate is a web designer. But I have never heard of this before and I want to tell him about it.

I get it that ads on the site make money but how much money? I checked out the links and I didn't find numbers. So what I wanna know is the bare bones. Sorry if this has been answered before but I don't have time right now to look through this place.

Why would you use the ads and how much money can you make and is it worth it. I noticed you are not supposed to tell people to click on the ads and you are not supposed to mention the ads on the site??

Also do you think I can use my college club websites or are those forbidden.

There are a lot of ways to make money out of your website. It depends on the traffic you are getting as well as the nature of your website. Some people also like a long green (PR) bar.

Why do people use ads?

To sell their products, services etc

 

How much money will you be make?

Depends on traffic because a percentage of this will click your ads (clicktrough)

What kind of ads will be served on your site (depends on your content)

What amount per click? (depends on your keywords in your content and therefor resulting in certain ads that advertisers pay a certain amount for where you get a certain cut from)

Just do it and worry about how much you will make later on, only thing your college club websites may cause invalid clicks in the perception of G because people maybe are using the same ip to connect to your site and a large amount of clicks might derive from one ip.
