I spilled a can of sprite on my laptop and now the whole left side of keys is sticking.

Is there any good way to clean it w/o taking all of the keys off? What if I just douse it w/ rubbing alochol and dry it up?

    Any advices? :p

My boyfriend gave me chicken nuggets and honey while I was on his computer, the honey poured into the number lock key and it's very hard to push so any cleaning ideas would be great.

Oh and I need to know what to use to clean my laptop screen if I have no special cleaning stuff for it. I never cleaned it and want to Windex it real bad, is that ok? It's LCD.

Colleen, I use these to wipe my screen..

Roman, I think you're right. A new computer is the best way to go. This keyboard will probably never be perfect again. This one is three years old anyway.

Ok well if you were serious I feel like an axxxxxx.

Been there done that many a times. Usually taking the keys off is no problem, unless you have a notebook like my medion and the keys fricking break off. I have attempted to spritz small amounts of rubbing alcohol into the areas, tip the notebook upside down in order to let it drip out...But that of course is at your own risk....Bummer either way :(

----most camera wipes will work ok for cleaning lcd, water with soft cloth works well to...

Keys rubbing alcohol and a cue tip if you can get the keys off w/o damaging them

I saw a site where they showed you how to open up the laptop and take off the rubber matt to clean it (so you dont break any keys) i dunno if you want to do that though...

You could maybe get away with washing it with mildly soapy water and a toothbrush, only using what you need as you go. Problem with that is you'd have to wait for several days to make certain it was completely dry.

Water doesn't usually bother components -- it's the power arcs that do the damage.

Final option is to back up all your data then make sure it's completely fried by the judicious addition of much coffee or other drink of your choice before claiming on your contents insurance.

Glass Plus wipes. They work great. I was really surprised how well they did work.

    1. Remove the battery
    2. Remove the keypad
    3. Put the keypad in warmwater for an hour or 10 minutes.
    4. Dish it.

I'd say a solvent like alcohol is your best bet. If it's 3 years old though, might be time to get a new laptop :D
