    Anyone heard of them?

I found info from SEW which makes it look like a real award service.

Anyway I just received an email this morning saying my tattoo website entered the Top 10 in the UK for Art/Entertainment. I wonder how acurrate their rankings are. I can't see any results pages on their site though

I used to monitor their industry news. But then they changed their site about and I couldn't find the overview anymore. They pitched us a few times as well to subscribe to their real time intelligence, as they call it. But then again, what's the point of spending loads of time and money on monitoring your competitors when you can spend it on improving yourself first with just common sense instead of 'intelligence'.

I believe they get their data fromdeals with big ISPs so it should be better than Alexa etc.

This service is the most accurate you can get and costs £10k per year.

I have had a demo and it basically gives you all the stats you could ever wish to know about your own site but it also give the same stats about your competitors as well. So you can see exactly where they get their traffic.

Data is from UK ISP's and deals with UK internet users only (hitwise.com deals with worldwide traffic).

The quarterly awards are just a way of creating publicity for their main service.

Cool, I dont use them and have no need, it just seemed like a random email but when I looked at their site it didn't seem like the normal website award crap, just seemed a little more meaningful/legit.

Cheers, its Top 10 for a category Entertainment/Art , but it still sounds like kudos and a pretty good thumbs up/recognition from what I can find. I added their banner to my site which I guess is their intention.

Probably. I can tell you that if I see the Hitwise logo on a site it serves as something of a 'guarantee of quality' and makes me more inclined to purchase.

Here's an example of another Hitwise top ten site:

Yeah I have seen it on Euroffice before come to think of it, I spoke to Euroffice earlier this year about getting a product feed from them for a new project, they are very aggresively marketing everwhere, quite impressive advertising budget.

I asked hitwise for a list of the top10 to see which sites I am in the top10 with but they would only give me Top 5

    1 allposters.co.uk
    2 tate.org.uk
    3 npg.org.uk
    4 easyart.com
    5 vam.ac.uk

Email them and ask for a demo, its free and is probably one of the most informative hours I have spent online.

The demo is done over some net meeting software.

Aggresively marketing? They should stop doing that and actually start a Customer Services team. I wanted to buy some monitor stands from them but had a question. I emailed and didn't get a reply but they were cheeky enough to put me on their spam list. So I emailed to get removed from it. Nothing happens. I email again asking whether my question will be answered. Nothing... Then I get spam again...

That's when I gave up and just blocked them. What a crap service!
