I'm looking for a new, cool, home office desk. Any suggestions? Maybe something geeky? Good storage is a must. Has to have room for my laptop and an external monitor.

    What do you use? Recommendations?

Not exactly cool but very functionality, old kitchen units and worktops. I inherited the setup in my current house, it is very practical, have a wall length worktop with units below and then wall units above. Looks as cool as hot crap but you'll never run out of storage space.

Yep. That´s on my Christmas list. It just disturbs the flow when you´ve got to break concentration to waddle through to the fridge. :D

With one of those I could get a record low on the pedometer. Anyone managed only 500 in a day?

I've been in need of a good desk for... well... my whole life. The good looking ones aren't functional and the functional ones really aren't that functional. I've had a design in mind for a real computer desk that I've wanted to build for years but haven't had the time. (no blueprints or anything like that, just a picture in my head). Why none of the major furniture manufacturers have taken computers seriously is a mystery to me. Most desks I've found have issues dealing with one computer, let alone the six I've got sitting here in my office.

I actually had a cabinet/woodworking guy build an entertainment center and wall unit for me a while back and it was a lot cheaper than you would think. (not dirt cheap, but less than you'd pay at a furniture store for similar quality work). I've been toying with the idea of having him at least put the wood portion of my dream desk together.

If you're creative it might pay off to come up with a rough design and call around looking for a few quotes from carpenters/cabinet guys.

I love my desk. I have two of them in my office now and it is much cooler looking in person. ;) Also, I'm amazed at the quality since it was very affordable. I just wish I would have picked up another sparkly vinyl retro chair! (I've been looking every where for one to match my other desk! )
