    Gargle warm salt water. - kills bacteria and numbs a little

    lemon juice mixed with honey - soothes and seems to help speed healing - use this for our kids (not much anymore, they don't get sick.)

    stop drinking coffee, soda, or acidic foods, etc for a while

    i did go to a doc, he gave me antibiotics, but i don't think i have strep, so he said just ride it out :(

    When I lived in HK my friend's mother used to scrabble about under the sink to catch some kind of noxious black bug thing which she boiled to make some kind of tea whenever she had a cough. Don't know if the cockroaches in your area would have the same effect.

    Try Homer's site http://www.virtuowl.com. There is a whole bunch of home remedies on there (and none of them require boiling bugs). :)

    What? What? Was she a witch doctor or something? What? Ok I just reread that and noticed HK friend's mom. I thought you meant your mom at first. Still.

    The more I hear about your kids the more I think you're raising some kind of super kids. I serious about that. You've got super intelligent, germ resistant, pizza-earning children. I hope they're doing a lot of physical activity because they will be like universal soldiers shortly. Seriously though I just had to say good job on your kids though, they sound great.

    When I have a soar throat I prefer warm dr. pepper with lemon and honey. It's not like it's some super magical remedy, but it does make if feel better and it actually tastes yummy.

    Also, if you're yelling at people you might want to cut back on that.
