For one of my sites i'm using godaddy. It's very cheap and I didn't have any problems yet.
The downsite is that it only supports one sql database and you cannot use all apache server extensions.

Gator seems to be fine for the most part. Some of the complaints that I have seen it possibly mis-advertisement and some down time - which can be uderstandable.

I've been using DataTide and they are great $3.95/month for 1 domain or $7.50 for 3.

But most important has been their support. The are on top of everything and get back to me with 1-2 hours, if not sooner.

Once I was having an FTP problem and after 5-6 emails they had me call their tech support who immediately solved the problem.

I went with gator and have been with them for a week or so...

No major problems yet, but we addressing a few errors getting thiings tightened up... for the most part, they are attempting to do what they can in a prompt manner..
