How can I be a good logo designer?

I know I must be good at art, exercise get illustrator/photoshop but aside from these, is there any technique that can help me design logos with shades and shiny effects?

 

You've got to have instinct and ideas for that if you want to make quality logos. Before that you've gotta handle technique and have the knowledge to make what you want. Most of quality logos are done by using and interacting with simple shapes, such as triangles, rectangles, circles, eclipse etc. I'm not saying I'm an expert, I don't even like to do them, but basically that would be it.

For inspiration just search on google for logos of your choice, for example "best list of abstracts logos" or something similar if looking to make abstract logo, and then come up with your solution.

It's important to know how to work with pen tool and have a decent knowledge of appropriate Typography that fits the logo you've done.

Study successful/famous logos and note how the balance within them. Generally, all elements within a logo should be balanced. For instance, don't use a color on one side of the logo without using it (or its opposite) on the other side. The logo should have a theme that is informed by this balance.

 

You Should Take training first from some tutorial

 

go to google and find some video tutorials that will help you more than any suggestions.

 

Forget the software and techniques, if your not creative than u will never become a good logo designer. Next too creative you need to be able to listen (or read between the lines) about what a customer actually wants.You need to be able to design a logo that your customer likes, not you! Afterall its their logo.If you are creative, a good listener and able to put your customer before your own likes than (in my opinion) you can become a logo designer. After this you can start following Photoshop courses, do online tutorials and watch video tutorials. Cause shadows etc are just basic functions in Photoshop.

 

Hard working is a key to success.

 

Creativity is the first thing you need to become a designer . Rest will follow soon . You can also try watching as many tutorials as you can on Youtube . It will help you develop your skills . Watching Movies , Reading Comics etc will help you in honing your skills.

 

All you need is the basics, the inspiration and practice to get experience.

 

Also, learn typography! It will definitely help you bigtime!

 

you should practice much with designing softwares like photoshop because "practice makes man perfect"

 

try doing something in photoshop cs4 or cs5 after that just go and register in a logomyway.com and attend some events by creating logo you will be practiced as well as attempting to win in that contest

 

Typography tutorials can help you, you will learn some ffects, it will give you ideas to make your own, mix them up etc.
