    How would I go about setting up my site so that customers can login and view invoices, tracking (fedex/ups), show back-ordered items and all that other good stuff.

    Let's say with no price limit what would be good (cart)software to use or whatever?

    I'm completely new to this so I might be totally off.

    I would suggest a consultant as there is going to be a lot of setup, account creations for UPS, Fedex, USPS, etc...
    Also security certificate, merchant account, PCI compliance ( https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/index.shtml) and other items.
    There are many scripts for what you want both free and paid. Just Google e-commerce scripts and you will be bombarded with more than you care to see.
    Getting them up and running will vary in what you have to do but if you are new, hiring someone to assist may save you time and money in the long run.
