How can I get Google to target "xbox games" for the ads instead of "halo 2"?

    Pretty much every ad has the word Halo in it, and those are very low paying (most of them are less than 5 cents). I used Overture's bid tool and found that instead of "Halo 2" as a keyword, "XBOX games" would be much better paying.

    I want to leave all the "Halo 2" stuff in there for the SERPs, but I want to get AdSense to target "XBOX games".

    Here is a normal page - http://www.fpsgaming.us/containment_top.html

    And here is a page I tried to add "XBOX games" a couple times. I added it to the META description, title tags, and the title bar thing on the page. - http://www.fpsgaming.us/containment_superjump.html

    But both pages seem to display the same ads. Any ideas for what I can do?

    Change the description to x-box related.
    Also add an alt text to images you have.
    Maybe it's wise to have Xbox in the title as well, such as Halo2 | X Box | blah blah. And in your keywords.

    IMO, the pages also need more ocntents related to Xbox. Use the word more often even bold it.
    Just wait till pros come in and give you better suggestions.

    You can use section targeting like this :

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    more examples here

    <title>FPS Gaming | XBOX Games | Halo 2 | Multiplayer Glitches | Containment</title>
    <meta name="keywords" content="Halo, Halo 2, containment, superjump, glitches, xbox" />
    <meta name="description" content="Containment superjump" />
    Code (markup):
    That is from the page that I tried adding "xbox games" to. I guess I could try adding it to the description.

    Lol

    Yeah, I was going to ask about that but I forgot what it was called.

    How long would it take before I noticed a change? Would I even notice a change do you think?

    Hey,

    That was what I was going to say. It is very effective and it does work.

    You should also use the keyword xbox a lot more for the page.

    Regards,
    Sohan.

    According to Google, it can take up to two weeks for the section targeting to take effect. Don't forget you can use the ignore tags around every Halo 2 reference.

    Here's a couple more tips:
    1. Adsense seems to be heavily weighted to the URL, so get xbox-games into your directory or filename. Title is also very important, so get that right.
    2. Link to sites that are about XBox Games, including Microsoft. I'm not 100% sure, but I really think that sites you link to are important hints to the Adsense bot. Oh, and add keyword rich TITLEs to all of your out going HREFs.

    Hope that helps...

    Cryo.

    Alright, I'm trying those AdSense tags and I made a link with to xbox-games.html, so we'll see if this changes anything in a couple of days.
