how can i make post preview on wordpress categories?

    hello,

    i have wordpress site and when people view a certain category they see the full length of the post. i would like to know how can i short it to a small preview of 50 words and when they click on the title they will visit the full post? i also want to do the same on my homepage.

    This depends on your theme. If you're comfortable editing template files, then try this.

    From your Dashboard >> Appearance >> Editor.

    Now look for category.php from the list of template files on the right.

    Now find: the_content();

    Replace it with: the_excerpt();

    Do the same for your homepage (will either be index.php or home.php).
