How Do I do The Lens Effect?

Discussion in 'Photoshop' started by mickn, Aug 29, 2007.

I have Photoshop and GIMP available but I'm not a very talented designer. What I need to do have the 4 letter text: 4WWW in a circle, which looks like a lens glass, that is the letters are deformed and the text 4WWW is close to forming a circle itself?
    Any help appreaciated.

You mean like this, on a larger scale?

Either that, or make the circle, put the text inside, with the text size being the width and height of the largest section, then use the warp tool to drag the corners down till it fits. This is in photoshop, btw.

    Hope it helps.

Hecky, it seems I'm lousy at explaining. I don't need the magnyfing glass, just the circle. I'm not thinking about magnifying the text but rather distorting it to fit the circle better. Think of fish-eye style of distortion/deformation.

Create the circle, create the text. Then hilight the text layer, goto warp and then up top in the toolbar there is a fisheye option. I think.

in photoshop, type the text, using the elliptical marquee tool create a ciircle around the text. hold shift for it to constrain it as a perfect circle. then goto filter-distort-spherize. voila.

note: you may need to rasterize / render the text layer in order to apply this filter to it. it may ask when performing the filter and it may not. if not, in the menu at the top, layer - rasterize text (if i recall correctly). working in lightroom at the moment so photoshop isn't open. going off of memory.
