    Are you using wordpress based site? then you can try all in one seo pack plugin. You can set option for indexing there.

    It's a typical web site. When you see results of your search you'll see the title, description and underneath that you'll see links that take you to specific pages ... like "catalog, contact us, map"....actual pages from the web site. How do I get my web site to do that?

    yes, those are called sitelinks. backlinks to those pages will work.
