How do I start my own software company?

Dear all,

I am hoping to get some advice on here. Never done anything like this. But I'm very keen to start my own software company doing software for a particular specialised field. I know exactly how I want it to work, but I do not know how I could start to have this programmed as I do not have any program knowledge.

I heard most people have these things outsourced to India. I think it's a pretty big project and would like to know how I can get going with a limited budget.

The programs I am interested in are pretty simple as they are mostly databases, but I do require a certain amount of security, network capability, etc. A bit like a customer database with different fields but can be accessed on network with password, integrated into labs etc. the ability to send requests to other departments securely and to keep track of when requests are 'read' and processed, booking times etc.

Would love some thoughts on where to begin!

First of all, have your product lined up. Without a general idea of what you want to accomplish, i dont think you will come far.

 

Spec out the software and get someone to write it... There are lots of sites to do it safely and securely like rentacoder, elance, etc.
