How do you succeed with your Digg campaigns?

Hi All,

I have known that Digg can be a major source of traffic (not to mention, backlinks) for your articles and sites. But it eludes me how to succeed with it. I mean, if you submit your own article you only get 1 digg, right? If you're lucky, a couple more people will digg your link.

My questions are, how do you get people to digg on your link and how do you get your link on the first page?

I've literally never had my Digg article on the front page. You'll LITERALLY need hundreds upon hundreds of people who "dugg" your article in order to get on the front page. and, that doesn't mean you're guaranteed it. especially if you're marketing a website instead of a certain news article. in other words, it's extremely hard to get on the front page of Digg.

@BarbaraACF - Thanks for pointing me to that site. Much appreciated. Good tips but I find it a round-about way of promoting our own website because it says we have to Digg interesting articles and "be out there". It makes sense though.

@Yugo - Exactly. I'm wondering if there are groups out there who digg any link a member submits. Would be useful.

 

Nup. It can happen with 50 diggs.

 

Hmmm.. so I need just 50 friends then... assuming they all digg my posts.

To be success on digg, you first need to make tons of "digg friend"
It doesnt really matter your article is interesting as long as you got "friends"

 

Digg & Buzz etc. have an algorithm that won't be fully revealed for what goes on their front page. Part of it is looking at search engine trends.

Digg/Buzz etc. all need to have relevant content that people want to see so it's a combination of votes (diggs/buzzes) + what's trending + secret sauce.

 

So true. Makes me think Digg can be manipulated if we can find "friends" who will digg no matter what article. If I may ask, where do you get friends? Do you just randomly click users at Digg and "befriend" them?

 

You need to actually embed that digg button on your website or blog where the source is in able to promote it a bit more. You won't get many "Digg"s directly from the digg site unless you get really lucky. To be featured on the front page as well you need to show that your link is popular and has a following.
