How Do You Tell Someone Good Post?

I'm so glad you asked.

Digital Point is a community forum that is a great testament of "Peer Power". It is a place where computer users, Internet surfers, website owners, webmasters, and others can get the information they need. Coupled into that, is that it is a great place to share information and resources to assist others. Finally, it's also a place to talk and share other ideas, comments and have some good, clean fun from time to time. (Okay, that Ninentdo guy is a real whacko, but it's mostly clean fun.)

So how do you tell one of your Digital Point peers you enjoyed their information, post, resource, article, etc.? Well, no doubt, posting a message to that effect is a nice way to say, "Good Job." Another tool that you may not be aware of, is that you can add to a members "Reputation" by clicking on the scales in the top right hand portion of the thread box of their message. It looks like this:


If you mouse-over the image, it should say "Add to 'members' Reputation".

This is an awesome way to recognize someone's quality of their post.

The obverse is equally true. IF, hopefully rare, a member makes a bad comment or post, you can use the same tool to show that you disapprove of their post.

This gives "we the members" the power to police our own so to speak. It's a great way to show appreciation for the time it takes to give good, quality inforamtion to a fellow member. Again, it's also a way to tell someone the post was not appropriate, if you felt it was spammy, etc.

Please use the tools of the Digital Point community to show your appreciation for your fellow members who take the time to give good, quality information, feedback, resource sharing, etc. As needed - again, hopefully rarely - you can also send a member notice that the post did not meet your approval.

There's no need to feel like every single post requires an approval or disapproval reputation. Sometimes, we merely are having fun, or posting a quick nod of agreement. But, when you run across that post that stands out to you, good or bad, take a second to say so.

Check your own reputation on "User CP" - when someone adds to your reputation, positive or negative, you'll see it at the bottom right of your User Control Panel:

Latest Reputation Received xxx points total
the pip will either be green (positive/approval), red (negative/disapproval) or even grey (does not add or subtract to your rating because the member giving does not have the ability, yet, to add or subtract to another's reputation = neutral).
