How hard is Joomla to learn?

Joomla looks like amazing software, possibilities with it seem endless. How hard is it to learn?

I have 2 lynda training videos I am going to start on.

Would anyone recommend any other good sources for learning joomla.

    Thanks.

I tell people joomla is about as hard to learn as the excel program.

Yes, for one tutorial, I recommend this one. LINK

Joomla is not that really hard to learn if you will just deal on the basic CMS. But when you are modifying it with specialized mods. There goes the pain.

What exactly do you want to learn from joomla?

I just want to learn a good CMS system really. I am building sites with HTML/CSS and want to be able to put sites together that people can manage and update on their own. Joomla seems like the most popular software for this.

Wordpress is simpler, but Joomla has much more abilities,
and is not that much more complicated. Go for it...

It takes some time, but is well spent learning joomla.

    Joomla+good template=$$$

    Just my opinion.

I have migrated my site (fisrtly set up in 2006) from joomla 1.0 to joomla 1.5 9abput 3 months ago) and then to wordpress (about a week ago). To learn, both joomla and WP are easy, but WP is more simple and better for SEO.

It is far easier than Joomla, but you need to have some grip on PHP! It is the most used open source cms after Wordpress! You can find out quick reference tutorials of Joomla on Google.com

So would anyone here actually recommend wordpress over joomla? If building sites for clients.

I have used and created a wordpress site before but it seems all too blog orientated to me. I thought about going down the path of joomla just to get away from the stigma that wordpress is all blogs.

You can disable posting in Wordpress, but it sounds like you want more options
    than just "disabling" an option.

I learned Joomla. I of course recommend it, because of its abilities
over Wordpress. The administrator panel is very user-friendly.
It will be easy for your clients to customize their articles with Joomla.

    Hi,
Joomla is a content management system. It is a open source for site building. You must go for Joomla.org or siteground.com , You will find the tutorials of joomla. You must go for the components, plugin, modules.

I am just starting to use Joomla too. Clients are willing to pay so they can do it themselves. However, I find that the article editor is problematic at best. When you copy and paste it makes a mess instead of just grabbing the text. It does not include a simple table editor either.

I would recommend Wordpress for handing over sites to clients. It's simple and, especially if your clients aren't techies, easy to get the hang of.

If the site has no real object but just to show text or a video or photos,
wordpress is fine and Joomla is better for a "non-techie" to use.

Either one will not require the user to know any code, (html, etc ),
and Joomla has the more user-friendly administrator in my opinion.

Joomla is the best CMS, you can learn it in 2 days if you play around and refer some articles. I am also new to Joomla and I learned it in 2 days.

Joomla is complete crap(although I make lots of cash un haxoring people's joomla sites). You are best served by futzing around with a demo of it and then leaving it alone.
