How important is updating your website

    We all know content is a very to make google like your site, the big question is how important. In my case i had a site that i installed Wordpress on, wrote 3 articles and started giving links. The keyword i aimed to was a very competitive keyword, all sites in the top 10 were updating their site regularly. I never added articles to the site or any kind of content and i managed to stay up in the first page for about a year.

    Does it mean google doesn't care all that much about content?

    The link work i did was not all that great, i lost many links on the way.

    Do you think it is possible to stay up there without NEVER updating your site and a good link work?

    Ive had a site that gets about 3k hits a day and havent updated it for 2 years, still the same thing. As far as I can tell it doesnt matter at all lol..

    Google likes old sites with regular updated. So, you have to write new posts if you want to "make friends" with Google!

    As far as I know, it is very importatnt to update your site in short intervals to have a good rank in search engines.

    You get a benefit for your site being old and you get a benefit for fresh content, don't confuse the 2 - just do both if you can!

    Site updating is better for you to have a good rank in search engine and for more traffic because people want new content if they regularly visit your site
