    IMO
DP has big future and has yet to face some significant situations in the future to decide how this community will go :)

SP has still time to see and interpret the user's need + mind
SP has big base of best authors :)

SitePoint's gay now that they started charging users to list everything they want to promote or sell...and many users argued about that and none of the SP staff cared to listen to their members.

I think that Digital Point will reign supreme but in time as Shawn himself seems to provide very good support on a member-to-member basis. I know I contact him personally sometimes and he is very nice. I have tried doing that at SP several times and either get ignored or their staff simply don't know wtf they're doing / how to fix a problem.

SP could've made their users a lot happier by having a one-time charge membership fee but instead they like to gain profit via people's sales threads, which is lame...they have lost thousands of members just because of that. I prefer DN forum over SP anyday and SP is a webmaster forum and DN forum is a domain forum..

I really like Digital Point and I really do think that DP will reign supreme within time. DP is a much better managed webmaster forum and seems to be an overall more interesting community of webmasters. Shawn cares about his members while it seems that SitePoint is caring about their $$$moolah$$$ mostly.

I see Shawn (user DigitalPoint here in case any n00bs don't know) answer question threads for his members which is really a great thing.

My vote goes to Digital Point along with my belief that Digital Point will surpass SitePoint [soon, hopefully]. :)

SP will soon start charging for membership...

I have started moving away and I have been a member there since June 03.
DP is my regular now and I joined up v7n this month but now they have started charging fees in the sell your site section, nothing big at all that would put me off a site, but I just joined and thats starting to make me think they might just take over SP and go down the same road.

DP on the other hand...great site that isn't restricting members in any way, its more of a community than a business, unlike SP.

DP would surpass SP for sure, but it would be difficult to comment on the timeframe for that.

I prefer DP over any other forum.

You can't really compare the "currently online users" because both forums use 2 different time frames of what is considered "currently online".
