Why do you care? :p It doesn't really make a difference! We are in the better community and that's all that counts! :D

I don't forsee us ever charging our users to post a question about PHP or to ask for a recommendation for an ad network...

DP and SitePoint are quite different.

Besides our Forums, we publish a lot of articles, blogs, and four regular email newsletters. In addition to that, through our book publishing program, our titles can be found at Borders, Barnes&Noble, Fry's, Microcenter, Amazon.com, etc...

I just realized that DP is much better than SP! I received much better response in the market forums here, and people were more likely to comment on my site! In SP it was all PM-based, as if the members were afraid to comment or something, and on top of that, that horrible fee! Go DP! I used to be a loyal SP user, but what spilled the drink was that fee in the "For Hire Forums" I just hope DP doesn't go the same route, or else I am going to be pretty much out of options.

    Too much talk, go DP!

Why are we even having this conversation? DP isn't really a competitor to SP. This forum was started for the sole purpose of supporting our products and tools... everything else was incidental.

LoL, is kinda juvenile, isn't it? I think it's just that cpvr has an inferiority complex, and making threads like this makes him feel more important.

While both communities attract webmasters, the target market is so huge that both (and many more beyond them) can easily be successful without hurting one another. Both Sitepoint and Digitalpoint have very different 'personalities' so to speak, and it's natural that some people would prefer one over the other.

    Keep on rocking Shawn. ;)

Then again, I didn't forsee you charging for a post to hire people...

Fees for SP membership coming soon...

I concur. Sitepoint is too spammy. Money hungry...

    Right-on.

    Digitalpoint creates some awesome software.

SitePoint specializes in publishing content (online & in print) for Web Developers and Web Professionals.

    Very different.

DP is so nice that I haven't bothered with SP. I'd take quality over quantity any day and DP has plenty of that! :)

Yes and it's a pity so much incidental stuff clutters up the space on DP. When the people with lots of time on their hands go and form a new forum to chatter about all and sundry amongst themselves, DP will be the best online forum in its class.

I only use sitepoint to buy and sell stuff if i dont buy/sell it here. I guess i dont even know what their community is like but... who cares... As long as DP does not turn into something like WMW.

I'm trying different forums after SP changed their advertising forums, DP seems quite good... for some reason I signed up here last year but didn't post. ;)
