How many CEOs are here? What you tell others?

Just curious how many dot com CEOs are here like me.

I work 24hrs fully online and i own popular dot coms and neither do i have office nor have a physical company. I do programming, web design, seo marketing, webmaster on my sites.

what you guys tell outside world about yourself?

I have noticed a weird look on peoples faces when i tell them i am CEO of a dot com. I looks as if many people think we are below par to real working people and companies. That sucks man!!

I give a damn and ignore everything with people having limited knowledge about internet/online.

many people don't get the "Internet thing"...they don't know how it is possible for a person/company to make money online, so their ignorance gives them a certain amount of disdain for Internet entrepreneurs. look how many people hate skateboarders, how they dress, the "stupid clothes" they wear....many pro-skaters are extremely well-paid and wealthy. some people just don't get things...rather than be upset about it, i relish in the fact that there are fewer people in the Internet market because of ignorance, which means less competition....also, those same people are most likely the ones hitting thousands of our sites clicking their little hearts out on AdSense...

If somebody says: "That sucks man!!", i always tell him haw mach i earn, and that topic stoped =))))

 

I am President/CEO of my own virtual company. I am legally registered with the state and federal governments and recognized as such. For the most part, I don't introduce myself as such --- it is too formal of a title for most.

 

Most people are dumb and dont want to believe until we say for how much we earn.

what exactly you tell when asked what work you do?

Usually: I am a freelance writer who dabbles in web design and SEO projects. I water it down even more if I think the person is clueless!

 

I tell people I buy, sell and trade information on the internet. They
tend not to ask any more questions after that since they think I'm
involved in the Mafia or something!

 

Yeah, they probably do! I forget sometimes how people outside of our circle do not grasp all that we do. Sometimes an air of mystery is the best response, even if they think you are up to something that is a bit offbeat!

 

Think of youtube and myspace - huge business models. They would have also started somewhere. The thing is you should do what you like. You should be your BOSS!!

 

Yeah; I was having a very hard time comprehending this as well. I try and figure out "why do people click on the adsense ads", they have to get boring... they usually look like ads etc.

On TV, people usually don't get excited over commercials unless it is comical or something in particular to that exact person.

I have been told that us types are "ad-blind" though. When I think about it ... it is really true though. When I visit sites I dont realize how much "crap" is really all over the site, and I am only focused on the text.
